Path of Boredom ("the game") is a hobby game developed by MadBone. This policy explains what
data the game collects, why, and who it is shared with. It applies to the Android app
(com.madbone.pathofboredom), the iOS app, and the browser version of the game.
The game does not show ads, does not profile you, and does not sell or share your data with any third party for advertising. The only personal data collected is what is needed to sign you in and keep your saved game attached to your account.
| DATA | WHY |
|---|---|
| An account identifier from your sign-in provider (Google, or Apple where offered) | To identify which saved game belongs to you. This is an opaque identifier issued by the provider. The game does not receive or store your password. |
| Your display name | Shown in the game and next to your score on the in-game leaderboard, so runs are attributable to a player. |
| Your email address, if your sign-in provider supplies it | Used only to recognise the same person across sign-in methods so one player keeps one save. It is not used for marketing, and the game does not send you email. |
| Game progress and run data | Your character, level, equipment, upgrades, chosen skills, score and progress through the campaign, so a run can be resumed and ranked, plus account-wide progress (Embers, Ember Camp upgrades, class mastery and discovered relics) so it follows you between devices. This is game data, not information about you personally. |
Saved games, account progress and leaderboard entries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, operated for the developer by Google Cloud, which acts as a data processor. Data is sent between the app and the server over HTTPS. Game settings and a local copy of your progress are also kept on your device.
This is a small hobby project. It is run on a best-effort basis and you should not rely on it to preserve data indefinitely. Saved games may be lost through server failure, maintenance or discontinuation of the project.
Your data is not sold, rented, or shared for advertising or marketing purposes with anyone. Data is shared only with:
Data may also be disclosed if required by law.
Your saved game and leaderboard entry are kept until you ask for them to be deleted, or until the project is discontinued.
You can delete your account and all data held about it at any time from inside the game: open Account & cloud and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your saved game, account progress, leaderboard entries and account identifier from the server. Instructions are also available on the account deletion page.
You can also ask for a copy of the data held about you, or request deletion by email, using the contact details below.
You can also stop the app from holding further data at any time by signing out and uninstalling it, and you can revoke the game's access from your Google or Apple account settings.
The game is not directed at children and is not designed to collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please get in touch and it will be removed.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a revised "last updated" date.
